AIM Ministries

Celebrating 10 Years of God’s Faithfulness!

In 1997 the Association for International Ministries (AIM) was born from the vision of Juaro and Rose Silva to minister to the needy they met as they vacationed in Puerto Penasco, Mexico. Together with Pr. David Abel & lawyer Jim Easterly they officially founded AIM as a 501c3 non-profit corporation for the purpose of assisting individuals, organizations and church groups to reach out with the message of God’s love to those with spiritual and physical needs around the world.

Under the leadership the Silvas, AIM’s first area of ministry was directed towards the physical and spiritual needs of families living in a needy area of Puerto Penasco. Their first project was the building of a place for outreach and evangelism in called Mission La Hermosa. Later it was enlarged with bathroom facilities and children’s Sunday school rooms. Under the leadership of Pastor Carlos Gracian, the church now has a weekly attendance of some 160 souls.

Today AIM’s Mexico Ministry has grown under the leadership of its Ministry Board. It is involved in planning monthly medical clinics with medical volunteers from Phoenix and the Mexican Naval Base; a children’s sponsorship program for over 40 children; a house building project and a children’s Christmas party that in 2007 gave presents to over 1,200 kids.

In 2005 AIM received an honorary Certificate of Gratitude from the Puerto Penasco City Council for its work. It now has created a Mexican philanthropic corporation called “Esperanza Para una Nueva Vida” which gives AIM official recognition with the Mexican government and will aid in the development of further projects there.

A new project for Mexico is the building of the “Nueva Esperanza Community Center” along with the “Dr. Egeu Barreto Clinic,an outreach center/medical clinic on property donated to AIM by the city. (Dr. Barreto was a Brazilian born cardiologist in Phoenix who loved the Lord and led the monthly health clinics until his death to cancer in 2006).

AIM - Brazil

In 2004 Jay Silva took a group of 13 people on a mission boat trip to minister to the people living along the Paraguay River in the western state of Mato Grosso do Sul.  The Pastor who owns the boat shared his vision of building a hospital for these needy people in Corumba. AIM contributed $1,000.00 towards the project and as the building began, other churches and political figures added to the funds. In June, 2006 the Hospital Bom Pastor was inaugurated! They are now running a medical clinic 5 days a week, until funds are raised to furnish the rooms and purchase the necessary operating equipment through the “Bom Pastor Hospital Project.”

In 2006, AIM added to its ministries the work of the Christian Foundation for Mission Youth (CFMY) in Brazil. This 40-year old ministry started by Rev. John Abel, Pastor David Abel’s father, supports the ARCA & Fazenda Retiro Bible camps for youth, tent evangelism campaigns and several community service programs. Contributions for these ministries are given through the “AIM-Brazil Fund.”

AIM - USA

In the States, AIM’s ministry has included several outreaches to the Spanish & Portuguese speaking community in the Phoenix area. It has been involved in ministries to the homeless and incarcerated individuals. AIM also is grateful for the ministry of the Neighborhood Christian Clinic and supports its outreach to our community.
