AIM News

February 2009

Dear Friends,

As we prepare for what God calls us to do in 2009, we are humbled by your response to the Christmas giving. The struggles we have in our economy right now have impacted our families, friends and even our missions work. Still, through it all, we find hope. I was touched by the donation of those who took off their shoes during a Sunday service to send with us to Mexico. Praise God for your servitude to honor His glory.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support. We pray that you will join us in stepping out to obey God's Great Commission, to speak His name to all the nations.

Juaro "Jay" Silva
A.I.M. President

New Community Center!
Earthquake Hits Costa Rica
Are You Ready For The Great Commision?

New Community CenterNew Community Center!
- Puerta Penasco, Mexico

The center is up and running. That translates into no running water or electricity, but we are able to have a meeting place. We thankful that you are a part of His work. We are not done, but we are already using what God has blessed us with.

There is so much more to do though, more than we could have ever anticipated. Some of those helping with the community center are going down during the AIM "off" weeks to assess materials needed and to communicate with Blanca, the social worker holding the women's studies at the center. In the first meeting, there were 130 women at this gathering. We only have 18 folding chairs, so everyone just sat where they could (on the floor). As you can imagine, the airflow could not mask the odor or stuffiness with this many people, so hungry for God's word and fellowship. Praise God for this opportunity He has blessed us with.

Our biggest priority on finishing the center, is electricity and running water. As you can imagine the popularity of this center growing. We are working hard in this race against the approaching summer heat.

If you feel led to help, please contact Julie Davis at (602) 318-7866 to sign up for a mission trip, or Rob Martin at (602) 741-9734 for information on helping with the construction needs for the center.

costa rica earthquakeEarthquake Hits Costa Rica
- San Jose Costa Rica

Last October we had the pleasure of working with Ted and Gracie Quiocho in Costa Rica for the first time since they left Phoenix. To our sadness, the earthquake that hit on January 8th has left many homeless and in need of help. Ted, Gracie and the girls are working with the people to help with shelter, food, water and clothing. Many lost everything they had.

The Quiocho's are working with the Great Commission Ministries organization (GCM) in San Jose. They will be focused on all areas of health evangelism and wherever God leads them. They have email access, so please introduce yourself to them. They would love to hear from you!

To receive their monthly newsletter directly you can write them at the email address below.

Please pray for the Quiocho family as they work for His glory in Costa Rica.

Ted and Gracie Quiocho can be reached through email at tquiocho@gmail.com (Ted) or gquiocho@gmail.com (Gracie). This is a corrected email address. Ask Gracie for her favorite recipe!

Are You Ready For The Great Commission?
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations" Matthew 28:19

This year AIM is stepping out to another new area. We are currently putting together a group to go to Guatemala March 20th - 28th. This group will be repairing a shelter and working with a missionary family in the community. The cost for the trip is $850 per person and includes all transportation, food and housing. There are still a few openings for this mission trip. Please contact us for more information.

We will be visiting Brazil again this year and the trip is scheduled to leave on June 10th and return on June 21st. We will be distributing bibles, evangelizing, providing basic medical care, and medical supplies. Especially needed are those with any type of medical training or experience. Be in prayer for this group and the impact we will have on the lives of those we meet. There is limited space for this trip, so please sign up now if you are interested. This is the 5th annual trip to Brazil to visit the rural villages and the BOM Pastoral Hospital.

For a complete list of upcomming Mission Trips please see our Calendar.
